The following layouts are expected at our exhibition (more details to follow)

Chasebury

This is the '0' gauge layout belonging to the Enfield Town MRC. It was donated to the club, having started life as a round and round American layout. The members' first reaction was that it was not right for our needs; a further look suggested modifying it to become a line serving an industrial estate in England. In the club context the layout has been useful in providing members who have done little modelling before (and rather apprehensive about starting) with something to work on. Progress has been slow but steady. A little done on a regular basis has proved more useful to us than longer periods of hectic activity. Any club layout suffers from the fact that meetings are for a couple of hours a week, and there's all the chat and coffee-drinking to fit in as well.

Lydgate

“Lydgate” is (00) Lancs&Yorkshire BR Steam/Diesel  branch line terminus..-its got rather nice coal drops on it ! belongs to Mid-Essex based on Holcombe Brook- formerly owned by the Rochdale club. Layout is based on Calder Valley rolling stock detailed ready to run

Greys Steelworks

Depicting a small part of an integrated steel works, this layout provides the opportunity to operate a variety of industrial locomotives, both steam and diesel in a suitable setting. Traffic includes raw materials (iron stone, coal and limestone), internal traffic (coke, liquid iron, steel ingots, part rolled billets and slag) and outward traffic (rolled steel sections and by-products).

A number of special wagons are required including the large ‘torpedo’ wagons which carry 200 tonnes of molten iron from the blast furnace to the Basic Oxygen Steel (BOS) plant and also the ingot wagons which take steel from the BOS plant to the rolling mills.

The rolling stock is a mixture of scratch built, kit built and adapted proprietary models. Each of the buildings uses a different constructional technique for evaluation purposes.
